Hollywood Stars Join AI Voice Revolution: McConaughey and Caine License Their Iconic Voices

Hollywood Legends Embrace AI Voice Technology

In a move bridging Hollywood glamour with cutting-edge tech, ElevenLabs has secured voice licensing agreements with two of cinema's most recognizable stars. Matthew McConaughey's Texas drawl and Michael Caine's Cockney accent will soon be available through the company's newly launched Iconic Voice Marketplace.

A Star-Studded Digital Choir

The platform already features over 25 legendary voices spanning entertainment history, including:

  • Jazz icon Liza Minnelli
  • Poet Maya Angelou
  • Western legend John Wayne

"This isn't about replacing voices," Caine emphasized in a statement, "but about amplifying them." The 90-year-old actor has authorized use of his distinctive London tones for audiobook narration and commercial projects.

McConaughey, an ElevenLabs investor since 2022, plans practical applications for his digital voice clone. He'll produce Spanish versions of his "Lyrics of Livin'" newsletter, telling reporters: "Technology should help us connect across languages and cultures."

Solving Hollywood's AI Anxiety

The announcement comes amid growing industry concerns about unauthorized voice replication. ElevenLabs stresses that every voice on its platform requires direct approval from the individual or their estate - a clear response to recent deepfake controversies.

While financial details remain confidential, the company revealed plans to expand its celebrity roster significantly. Future applications could include:

  • Brand advertisements featuring historical figures
  • Podcasts narrated by iconic voices
  • Audiobooks read by late literary giants

Key Points:

  • Legal Framework: All voices require explicit rights holder approval
  • Market Potential: Targets advertising, publishing and entertainment sectors
  • Ethical Approach: Positioned as alternative to unauthorized deepfakes
  • Cultural Impact: Preserves and extends legacy of iconic performers
