Opera Neon Introduces AI-Powered Research Agent ODRA

Opera Neon Browser Launches Deep Research Agent ODRA

Opera has announced the launch of Opera Deep Research Agent (ODRA), a new AI-powered feature for its experimental Opera Neon browser. This development represents Opera's latest effort to integrate advanced artificial intelligence capabilities directly into browsing experiences.

A Two-Year Development Journey

ODRA is the result of over two years of development as part of Opera's proprietary AI engine. After extensive optimization, the agent has demonstrated strong performance in benchmark tests, positioning it competitively against offerings from industry leaders like OpenAI and Google.

Fourth Agent in Opera's Ecosystem

The introduction of ODRA expands Opera Neon's suite to four distinct AI agents:

  • Chat: For conversational interactions
  • Do: For task execution
  • Make: For content creation
  • ODRA: For complex research queries

This multi-agent approach signals Opera's ambition to transform Neon into what it describes as "an operating system for AI Agents and tools."

Parallel Processing Architecture

The agent's efficiency stems from its unique server-side "parallelization" approach. Unlike traditional linear processing (CPU-style), ODRA operates more like GPU processing:

  1. Splits complex queries into sub-questions
  2. Assigns dedicated research modules to each sub-question simultaneously
  3. Synthesizes results into comprehensive reports

This architecture enables ODRA to deliver research quality comparable to specialized tools from major tech companies.

User Accessibility

The agent integrates seamlessly with Opera Neon's Omnibox, allowing users to:

  1. Select the ODRA option in the search bar
  2. Input their research prompt
  3. Engage in clarifying dialogue if needed

The system proactively requests additional information when queries require clarification before proceeding with analysis.

Limited Availability Phase

Currently, access to Opera Neon remains restricted to selected users through an invitation system. Interested parties can join a waiting list for potential access as Opera gradually rolls out the feature.

The company plans to notify waitlisted users via email when spots become available. ---

Key Points:

  • ODRA represents Opera's fourth AI agent integration in Neon browser
  • Features parallel processing architecture inspired by GPU computing
  • Achieves competitive performance against industry-leading research tools
  • Currently available through limited invitation-only access
