HP's Keyboard PC Shrinks Your Desktop Into a Sleek Typing Pad

HP Reinvents the Desktop Computer - Inside a Keyboard

At CES 2026, HP turned heads with an innovation that challenges everything we expect from desktop computing. Their new Eliteboard G1a crams an entire x86 computer system into a keyboard chassis measuring just 12mm thick - about the width of three stacked credit cards.

Power Where You Least Expect It

Don't let its slim profile fool you. The Eliteboard packs AMD's Ryzen AI 300 series processors, configurations up to 64GB RAM, and 2TB storage - specs that rival many traditional desktops. Need multiple screens? Its USB-C port drives two 4K monitors simultaneously, perfect for multitaskers juggling spreadsheets, design software, and video calls.

"We're giving professionals desktop-grade power without anchoring them to a desk," said HP's product lead during the demonstration. "Imagine transitioning seamlessly from your home office to coworking space without skipping a beat."

Designed for Today's Mobile Workforce

Weighing just 750 grams (lighter than most laptops) with about 3.5 hours of battery life, the Eliteboard targets hybrid workers constantly on the move. Setup takes seconds: plug into any display via USB-C, connect a mouse (the keyboard is built-in, obviously), and you're working.

The timing couldn't be better. As remote work becomes permanent for many, professionals crave powerful yet portable solutions beyond laptops. Coffee shop coders, digital nomads, and consultants hopping between client sites may find this device revolutionary.

More Than Just Novelty

This isn't HP's first attempt at compact computing (remember their brief experiment with PC sticks?), but it's certainly their most polished. Early testers praise the thoughtful details:

  • Sturdy aluminum chassis that doesn't flex during typing
  • Full-sized keys with comfortable travel distance
  • Silent operation even under heavy workloads

The Eliteboard arrives March 2026 at an undisclosed price point likely positioning it as premium productivity gear.

Key Points:

  • World's first keyboard-form PC with full x86 architecture
  • AMD Ryzen AI 300 processor delivers desktop-level performance
  • Supports dual 4K displays via USB-C
  • Ultra-portable at 12mm thick and 750g weight
  • Expected to launch March 2026
