Executive Vice President Shen Dou revealed the company's next-generation Kunlun AI chips - the M100 and M300 models - alongside two powerful supercomputing nodes dubbed Tianchi 256 and 512.

The Hardware Powering China's AI Future

The new Kunlun chips represent Baidu's latest bet on specialized AI processors. While technical specifications remain closely guarded, insiders suggest these chips deliver significant improvements in both performance and energy efficiency compared to previous generations.

"We're not just releasing products - we're building the foundation for China's next decade of artificial intelligence," Shen told attendees during his keynote address. "These chips will power everything from smart cities to pharmaceutical research."

A Million-Card Moonshot

Perhaps most striking was Baidu's long-term vision unveiled alongside the hardware. The company plans to achieve what few have attempted: deploying one million Kunlun chips in a single computing cluster by 2030.

This ambitious target would create unprecedented processing power concentrated in one location. For comparison, today's largest supercomputers typically use tens of thousands of processors working in tandem.

"It's like planning a city when you've only built neighborhoods before," remarked Dr. Li Wei, an independent AI infrastructure analyst who attended the event. "The engineering challenges are enormous, but so are the potential rewards."

The announcement builds on Baidu's existing momentum:

  • Tens of thousands of Kunlun chips already deployed commercially
