At the 2025 Cloud Summit, Zhou Jingren, Chief Technology Officer of Alibaba Cloud Intelligence Group, unveiled staggering achievements for the company’s open-source AI initiative, Qwen. The project has now released 300+ models to the public, with total downloads exceeding 600 million—a testament to its global influence in AI development.

Expanding AI Accessibility

Zhou emphasized that Qwen’s models cater to diverse needs, covering all sizes and modalities, from lightweight tools to enterprise-grade solutions. "Our goal is to democratize AI," he stated. "These models are designed to accelerate innovation across industries, from healthcare to finance."

The summit also debuted new additions to the Qwen family, including Qwen3-VL, a multimodal model integrating vision and language capabilities. This release underscores Alibaba Cloud’s commitment to pushing AI boundaries.

Tongyi Wanxiang: A Content-Generation Powerhouse

Beyond Qwen, Alibaba Cloud’s Tongyi Wanxiang project has generated:

  • 70+ million videos

These metrics highlight rapid advancements in generative AI, positioning Alibaba as a leader in digital content creation.
